Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

The World Shall Be Saved ("we", "us", the "Service") is an evangelism and discipleship app operated by Jesus Loves Australia. We are the data controller responsible for your personal information. You can reach us at support@theworldshallbesaved.com.

This policy explains what we collect, why, the legal bases we rely on, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have — including under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Australian Privacy Act.

2. Information we collect

  • Account & profile data: name, email, password (stored hashed by our auth provider), phone number, date of birth, profile photo, and preferred contact method.
  • Location data: your home location (country, state, town/suburb, metro) and, when you choose to use location features, your device's GPS position — used for maps and to attribute activity to the city where it happened.
  • Faith & discipleship data (special category): information that reveals religious beliefs — for example records of gospel conversations, decisions for Christ, discipleship relationships, your network/upline, course progress, and prayer or outreach notes. We treat this as special category data requiring extra protection (see section 3).
  • Communications: in-app messages, audio messages, and any content you submit (e.g. a Bible request).
  • Device & usage data: device model, OS, app version, IP address, and basic usage/diagnostic information collected automatically to operate and improve the Service.

3. Special category (religious) data & your consent

Because the Service exists to help you share faith and disciple others, much of the information you enter reveals religious beliefs. Under GDPR Article 9 this is "special category" data, which we process on the basis of your explicit consent, given when you create your account and continued each time you choose to record this information. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the relevant data or your account (section 8); withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.

If you record information about other people (for example someone you shared the gospel with or are discipling), please only enter what is necessary, and be mindful that they have privacy rights too. Do not record sensitive details about others without an appropriate basis to do so.

4. How and why we use your information

  • To create and manage your account and provide the Service — legal basis: performance of a contract.
  • To record and display faith/discipleship activity, your network, courses and movement maps — legal basis: your explicit consent.
  • To send you service messages, reminders and (if you opt in) SMS/WhatsApp — legal basis: consent and/or legitimate interests.
  • To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and improve it — legal basis: legitimate interests.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract, including:

  • Google Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, hosting, notifications and analytics.
  • Twilio — SMS and WhatsApp messaging, where you opt in.
  • Email delivery providers — to send account and ministry emails.
  • Authorities or third parties where required by law, or to protect rights and safety.

6. International data transfers

We are based in Australia and our providers (including Google and Twilio) may store and process your data in the United States and other countries. Where we transfer data out of the EEA/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and our providers' data processing terms.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data and your faith/discipleship records, except where we must retain limited information to meet legal obligations. Aggregate, non-identifying statistics (e.g. a city total) may be retained.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access a copy of your data — use Profile → Download my data, or email us.
  • Erase your data — use Profile → Delete my account, or email us.
  • Rectify inaccurate data — edit your profile, or email us.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format (the export above is JSON).
  • Withdraw consent at any time.
  • Complain to your data protection authority. In the EU you may contact your national supervisory authority; in the UK, the ICO (ico.org.uk).

To exercise any right, use the in-app tools above or email support@theworldshallbesaved.com. We respond within one month.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect their data; if you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and review our measures regularly.

11. EEA/UK representative

If you are in the EEA or UK and we are required to designate a representative under Article 27 GDPR, their details will be published here. In the meantime you may contact us directly at support@theworldshallbesaved.com.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
